hashtag project april…

Reader. It’s Friday. FREAKING FRIDAY. I live for Fridays because that means I can stay up late cleaning, “watching” Friends, reading a book or random Buzzfeed crap, or a plethora of other things.

Because I’m a little bit boring and I like it that way, thankyouverymuch.

But anyway, as mentioned in my last post, I am truly sorry for abandoning my post here on A Little Bit Brave. I have some stories, yes, but before we get into those this month, let’s recap my goals for March and how I did.

March Goals:

1. Eat “Paleo” for the entire month. (March Intention)

2. Run 30 miles.

3. Pay off the remaining $1000 on a credit card that I’ve been carrying a balance on since 2010.

4. Read 5 books this month from the PopSugar challenge.

5. Watch the new “House of Cards” season.

Basically, the only goal I met last month was probably the most important one, paying off that credit card. Everything else pretty much went to shit. I admit that a little [okay, a lot of] laziness went into it, but I swear I as doing well for the first week or so. And then it went all downhill. But now that it’s a new month, it’s time to get back up, wipe off the dust, and start anew.

Here’s what I want to do this month… Now that we’re three days in, I’ve had some time to really consider what I’m going to do.

April Goals:

1. Read four books, not including this month’s book club choice.

I didn’t read ANYTHING last month, and that’s just pathetic. This weekend, I’m going to be cramming the latest book club book because our next meeting is on Sunday. As in, like, two days from now. And I have no time to do it on Sunday, so tonight and tomorrow it is!

2. Complete 22 days of the “Insanity” workout.

It’s already the 3rd and I’m running another 10K this Sunday, the 5th, so starting Monday the 6th, it’s on. It’s only fair that I allow myself a few days throughout the month to rest (not to mention, the program calls for it). This is going to be legit hard, Reader, because I’m a total slacker, I hate being dirty/sweaty, and um, have you TRIED “Insanity”? There’s a reason why they call it “Insanity.” Because it’s crazy-difficult and it just effing SUCKS.

3. No eating “out” during the week. Everything is either prepared from home or a healthier choice, like yogurt.

This is tough, too, because sometimes I get busy or you know, lazy, and don’t want to cook so I actually have something to take to work. But I can do this. I can do this. Chances are, my body will thank me, too.

4. Find a writing project that I can work on and submit somewhere.

As part of my “taking the writing more seriously,” I’ve been scouring for sources to find more followers/readers and how to perfect my craft. What better way to do that than to submit across the web? My friend, Anna Wickham, and I did a guest post-exchange and it’s been awesome; I want to continue this kind of deal and totally take advantage of working with other writers who are equally passionate and learn from them.

5. Find a marathon to run in September or October.

I wanted to run a marathon this month (you might remember that from my list of intentions for 2015), but I found out in January that the Daegu International Marathon changed its regulations this year and racers must finish the marathon in three hours or less. And show proof of ability. Um, I can’t do that. I run like a granny and have to walk sometimes, so I settled to do the 10K with a friend. (Could have done the half marathon, but you know, didn’t prepare for that in time…) This is the right time to start preparing for a full marathon, so I need to know what I’m prepping for or I just won’t do it. (Are you starting to catch on to my habits here? If you’re lazy and you know it, lift your ice cream!)

6. Spend a minimum of 3 hours a week studying Korean.

I started taking a new class about three weeks ago and it has been, no joke, a serious challenge for me. I’ve already skipped one day to go shopping instead… Ooops. The teacher is wonderful, but due to my lack of studying for, you know, the length of a pregnancy, I feel way behind and struggle to understand what’s going on in class at times. So, after doing my homework, I should be putting in a little extra time to memorize vocabulary/adjectives, and useful phrases. If I follow through, I should feel more caught up in no time.

So that’s it for this month. A whole six goals, which seems like a lot. With my slacking off from last month, it’s only fair that it’s a hefty load for this month. I only hope that I won’t bum out on anything.

Happy Friday, Reader.

Cheers!

    • Thanks, yMoon! Have you run a full marathon before? Any great training tips you can share?

I did my first in 2012, but trained with a team of people and had some great coaches. I’m a little nervous about doing this one on my own, but I know I can do it!

      Good luck to you, too!

I’ve only done 10ks back in Canada and I’m looking to try a 10k here in Korea as well. I aimed for cherry blossom run this month but I missed it >< Hopefully the ones in autumn will allow to me run by the foliage.. let me know if you know a good run to suggest :)

Good luck with your goals. #3 would be tough for me. I have lots of healthy options, and my wife would happily prepare them, but sometimes, I just gotta have a pizza or Chinese or BBQ or…

    • Do note that I was specific and said “during the week,” Dan! I don’t know if I could cut everything out… Tried to cut sugar last month and like everything else, that went down the tubes! I’m hoping to do better this month with something I feel like is manageable! Lol.

But I hear you. Sometimes you just need pizza (which I totally had with my coworkers tonight!)…
